Linear Equation - Business Mathematics

A linear equation is equation for a straight line.

To solve the linear equation ax = b, we simply deivide both sides of the equation by by a to get

x = b/a

For example,    

5x+5 = -20

5x = -20-5

5x = -25

x = -25/5

x = -5
